California Bar Exam

Students who complete our J.D. program are academically eligible to sit for California's General Bar Exam.  (Students of the Colleges, except those admitted as "special students," are not required to take the First-Year Law Students' Exam.)

It's no secret that California's three-day Bar Exam is one of the toughest in the nation, with a pass rate that typically hovers around 50%. For working students who juggle law studies with job and family duties, the exam poses a significant challenge.

Faculty and staff at the Colleges of Law share a deep commitment to helping students succeed on the exam. Our required curriculum covers every Bar-tested subject and includes Bar Studies, a course designed to help students understand how to meet the exam's intellectual and time-management challenges. We also offer presentations, panel discussions, and workshops on Bar Exam preparation.

Information about our graduates' pass rates can be found at the State Bar's website. That site provides additional information on the Professional Responsibility Exam and the State Bar's requirement for Registration as a Law Student.
