Academic Advisors
Law school is an exciting but rigorous course of study. To help students make the most of their law school experience, a faculty Academic Advisor is available at each campus to provide guidance through workshops, one-on-one academic counseling appointments, and topic reviews. Workshop topics vary depending on the needs of current students, but these are typical:
- Organizing and memorizing Black Letter Law
- Exam-writing strategies
- Using midterm performance to raise final exam performance
During one-on-one counseling appointments, Academic Advisors work with students to help them develop effective strategies for briefing cases, outlining substantive law topics, and taking law school essay exams. Such individualized assistance often includes review of students' outlines and essay exams, to help students identify their own analytical strengths and weaknesses.
During topic reviews, the Advisor helps the students outline a frequently tested topic and students use multiple choice problems to test their ability to apply the rules to a set of facts.
